Since Fromsoft’s award winning launch of ‘Elden Ring’ and the Game of the Year nominated expansion ‘Shadow of the Erdtree’ fans of the challenging game have waited to see what’s next from the studio.

In a report from Automaton Media, followed up by IGN, Fromsoft President Hidetaka Miyazaki spoke at the PlayStation Partner Awards 2024 Japan Asia about the future of the studio.

“We’re not really considering developments such as an Elden Ring 2… The projects in development are works in progress at the moment but diverse in genre”

-Fromsoft President Hidetaka Miyazaki

While he was unable to provide specifics, he mentioned that Elden Ring 2 is unlikely to move forward. However, he did mention that the series could be brought back someday.

They mentioned that several games are in development. The studio that devised such hits as ‘Dark Souls’ and ‘Bloodborne’ will likely be sticking to that. They weren’t ready to mention specifics, but with big events in the next couple weeks such as the PlayStation Showcase and The Game Awards, Fromsoft could appear with their next major project.

While Miyazaki was unable to confirm any specifics, with the love that ‘Elden Ring’ (and this year’s ‘Armored Core 6’), the future of Fromsoft looks like it could grow even bigger.
