While fans are still waiting to get a release date for Grand Theft Auto VI, including if it’ll actually come out this year, it seems that the game has just gotten its first big sales projection.

In a report through the Financial Times, as passed through IGN, the highly anticipated game is projected to make a whopping $3 billion in its first year. The report also mentions that it will pass over $1 billion in pre-orders alone. This puts the game as easily the biggest entertainment offering of 2025.
This would be a much needed shop in the arm, as the video game industry has suffered declining revenues followed by strikes and layoffs over the past couple years.
This comes after the previous entry, Grand Theft Auto V, became one of the biggest video games of all time. So a full success for the sixth installment isn’t that surprising.

Hopefully the Grand Theft Auto VI marketing campaign will kick up soon, with a new trailer. As of this writing, Take Two has claimed that the game will still release in 2025.
