Earlier today, Entertainment Weekly gave fans their first look at one of 2024’s most anticipated movies. The entertainment website delivered the first images of director Tim Burton’s return to one of his most iconic characters.

There were two images of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice released, with the first one being one of the most prominent. Since the sequel began filming last year, fans were eager to see how star Michael Keaton would look in the iconic Beetlejuice makeup 36 years later. And now they have their answer. Given Burton and Keaton’s desire for a more grounded and practical effects driven look, the makeup design shows just that in this first image.

The next photo release gives the first official look at the three Deetz women (Catherine O’Hara, Winona Ryder, Jenna Ortega). Ortega has been confirmed to be playing Lydia’s daughter, Astrid, with O’Hara and Ryder of course reprising their roles from the original. Justin Theroux’s new character Rory is also seen.

Burton has been very quiet about the plot for the film. While there are some small details out, the majority of the film’s plot is still lost to the Netherworld.

A trailer is expected to release in the coming days, but Warner Bros. has not yet confirmed any such existence. It’s possible they will wait for next month’s Cinemacon convention to release the first trailer.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will release exclusively in theaters on September 6, 2024.
