Disney, Hulu and FX surprised everyone when the rare time a streaming show dropped an advertisement for one of their upcoming series, Shogun, during the Super Bowl last month. And that gamble has appeared to pay off.

In a report by The Hollywood Reporter, it’s reported that Shogun amassed a whopping 9 million streaming views in its first six days. Ratings were counted all among Hulu, Disney+, and Star+ internationally. This makes it the most viewed Disney branded title outside of their mega-franchises like Marvel and Star Wars.
This makes the Feudal Japan-set drama a gigantic hit, placing it already ahead of the pack of other FX hits like The Bear and Fargo. The series has also been critically well received after three episodes and fans appear to be enjoying it as well.

The drama, which follows Hiroyuki Sanada and the conflicting visions of various Japanese warlords, has garnered praise and has often been compared to Game of Thrones and other large scale historical epic streaming series.
There are still seven episodes left to premiere, which Hulu drops at a weekly release schedule every Tuesday. Hulu is also slated to be folded directly in to Disney+ permanently sometime this year.
