Yesterday Paramount Global dates several titles for upcoming movies. This includes popular hits like the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sequel and the widely anticipated Naked Gun reboot.

Paramount has been trying to get a reboot of the late Leslie Nielson’s comedy classic The Naked Gun off the ground. It finally looks like it’s moving forward, with Liam Neeson taking on the comedian’s classic role. The cop spoof series, which spawned several sequels and spinoffs, became a comedy staple of the 80s and considered one of the great spoof franchises. Family Guy creator Seth Mcfarland will be producing while Akiva Shaeffer will be directing.
The script is also being written by Doug Mand and Dan Gregor, reteaming from 2022’s excellent Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers. The new comedy will be launching July 18, 2025. This joins an already crowded July 2025 window.
Two other big sequels got dated as well. For the children, Nickelodeon’s extremely popular Paw Patrol franchise will continue with an untitled sequel, currently dated for July 31, 2026.

And the big news is that last year’s highly reviewed and commercially loved Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is officially getting a sequel. The animated film was not a huge box office smash, it was loved by critics and fans alike and has caused a splash on Paramount+. The untitled sequel is still a ways off, getting an October 9, 2026 date. It would make sense given the franchises’ unique animation style and complex visuals.

Paramount has faced numerous challenges in recent years, from underperforming films and struggling to maintain a steady subscriber base for Paramount+. They recently fended off an acquisition challenge from Warner Bros. Discovery, although other studios and companies are said to be considering offers for the century old film studio. These sequels could really help the studio regain some footing.
