In 2022, Disney-owned 20th Century Studios found themselves with a smash success when the newest entry in the ‘Predator’ franchise premiered on Hulu. With ‘Prey’ becoming a worldwide (and Emmy Nominated) hit, it left fans wondering when the next entry would come.
Earlier today 20th Century Studios finally announced that a sequel was on the way. Currently titled ‘Badlands’, the new film will see director Dan Tractenberg returning, although no casting or crew news is out.

It is believed by many that due to ‘Badlands’ taking place further in the future, that ‘Prey’ breakout star Amber Midthunder will not be reprising her role.
‘Prey’ was a huge hit for the franchise that had, for quite some time, been dormant and unstable with multiple failed relaunches of the alien-monster films. It became Hulu’s most watched film premiere in history and garnered near universal praise, racking an impressive 94% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

20th Century Studios has not given a release date yet for ‘Badlands’, although production is set to begin this summer. The studio is also planning multiple films and spinoffs in the series, with Tractenberg overseeing the ‘Predator’ universe.
