Today the promotional campaign for this Christmas’ ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3’ officially kicked off, with the official accounts revealing the logo for the film.

What’s more, in a report from Variety, they confirm that comedic legend Jim Carrey is once again returning to play the villainous Dr. Robotnik.

Carrey was considered a standout in the first two films, that have proven to be critical and financial successes and have delighted fans across the world.

Some doubts were starting about Carrey’s return due to comments he made on the press tour for ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 2’ that hinted he would be retiring.

While not much is known about this third entry in the franchise, Carrey is now confirmed to be returning alongside Ben Schwartz (Sonic), Idris Elba (Knuckles), and James Marsden. The film will also star Sonic’s arch nemesis, Shadow the Hedgehog and many other characters are expected from the Sonic videogames. More casting announcements will likely come soon. Director Jeff Fowler is returning for the third installment.

‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3’ releases worldwide in theaters on December 20, 2024. It will be distributed by Paramount Pictures and produced in partnership with SEGA.
