Since the successes of Uncharted , Gran Turismo, and The Last of Us, Sony’s PlayStation Productions has gone into full swing. They’ve already got films or series based on God of War and Horizon: Zero Dawn in the works, and an Uncharted sequel is still being kicked around. There’s probably several we don’t even know about yet in development.

Today, Sony added one more title to their list. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Until Dawn, the narrative horror game that blew audiences away on the PlayStation 4, is now coming to the big screen. It feels kind of odd considering the game itself played almost as if it were a 15 hour long horror film, but PlayStation Productions seems to have a pitch.

David F. Sandberg returns to his horror roots after his work on the two Shazam! movies. It’s a return to form for the director, who expressed frustration with directing after last year’s critical and commercial flop, Shazam: Fury of the Gods.

Blair Butler has reportedly already written the script, with veteran horror screenwriter Gary Dauberman (It, Annabelle) doing some rewrites on it. Dauberman also will be producing the film, which will see him and Sandberg re-teaming after 2017’s Annabelle Creation.

No cast has been attached to star yet, unsure if stars Hayden Panettiere or Rami Malek would be reprising their roles.

The original game centers around a group of friends that find themselves stranded in a mountain cabin with a deranged stalker on the loose. As they struggle to survive, it becomes clearly evident not everything on the mountain is as it seems.

The film will be produced as a collaboration between the PlayStation Productions and Sony’s Screen Gems banners. No further plot details have been shared, but Sony claims it’s an “R-rated love letter to the horror genre, centering on an all star cast.”
