This morning the Screen Actor’s Guild (SAG) released their nominations for the 2023 year in film. Among the nominations are some of the biggest performances and ensemble work done in film throughout the year and is often seen as one of the biggest indicators of what the Oscars outlook will be.

This is due to the acting branch being one of the biggest branches of the Academy, so they tend to get more voting spots than others in the 8,000+ member organization.
Overall, it’s a similar list to what has been shown at other awards nominations this year. Barbie and Oppenheimer lead the awards listing with four nominations each, which is no surprise given the two films were among the best reviewed and biggest movies of the year.
Killers of the Flower Moon, American Fiction, and The Color Purple all received nominations in the coveted “Best Cast” category, which may be an indicator of the Best Picture frontrunners.
On the television front, nominees for “Best Cast in a Drama” include heavyweights The Crown, The Gilded Age, The Last of Us, Succession, and The Morning Show. Succession is most likely the favorite considering its final season, but the same could be said of The Crown as well.
There was some notable snubs as well. First off being Leonardo DiCaprio being left off in the “Best Lead Actor” race, a surprise given he was considered a frontrunner earlier in the year.
Warner Bros. led all of the nominations across both TV and Film with 20 nominations total.
