During Brazil’s CCXP convention, Amazon Prime video shared the first look at the new season for their adult-oriented superhero series, The Boys. And it’s brought with it the same blood soaked carnage fans are expecting:
Season 4 of The Boys picks up shortly after this fall’s college-themed spinoff, Gen V, concluded. Homelander is as unhinged as ever and Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher is preparing for war.
Things in the world of The Boys don’t look much better even outside the superhero antics. The world is on the brink of collapse as supes and humans appear to be at each other’s throats as the election teased last season nears. The Boys universe has never been one to stray away from social commentary, and it appears creator Eric Kripke is drawing fully on the 2024 Presidential Election as inspiration.
While series mainstays like Jack Quaid’s Hughie and Erin Moriarty’s Annie January/Starlight are seen in the brief 2 minute trailer, they aren’t given a lot of screentime. The focus seems to be on the election, impending chaos, and introducing the world to Jeffery Dean Morgan’s new arrival.
The Boys has continued to be one of Prime Video’s highest rated and most watched shows, if some criticize the show for its over reliance on satire and over-the-top gruesomeness. And from the looks of this (very) red band trailer, the series is not shying away from its trademark gore and sex-fueled rampages.
Amazon has not given a firm release date, only that the fourth season will debut sometime in 2024.
